Device Trust - Android Enterprise

[⚠️ Not Generated By AI]
Last week Google announced device trust for enterprise. It's about verifying whether a device is trustworthy enough to access company resources. It's built on the principles of zero trust model which gives businesses insight into which devices are allowed or disallowed based on their security posture.
Most mobile device management vendors has been doing their own version of this concept since their inception. Airwatch (now Peak Technologies) used to do security checkup before enrolling devices. Microsoft, around 2020, took the idea further by allowing security vendors like Zimperium, Better Mobile, Lookout, Crowdstrike, etc to do the security check of devices within it's Microsoft Intune fleet.
Looks like Google is following suit. But I do like Google's framing/marketing (you don't get to say this about Google ;) ). Rather than saying device security, mobile threat defense, etc, its reverting to terms like "Zero Trust" & "Device Trust".

Clear messaging win for Google. Google also wants to encompass idp, traditional device management & threat detection into one umbrella for enterprises. The promise is enticing, we will get to see how its implemented

There is a short talk next month about this release. I will for sure tune in.
Cheers
